Poncho - Humane Borders

Mission and purpose of Humane Borders:

"We are here to take death out of the immigration equation."

Began in 2000 out of concern (mainly from faith communities, but also human rights groups, corporate sponsors, legal advocacy groups and local municipalities).

More than 100 water stations around the area and over 150,000 gallons of water dispensed each year.

They are fully legal in getting permits and maintaining the stations. They are also involved in public relations and education.

In 1999 the US government shut off the path of legal migration, and the border is more secure everywhere except this 200 mile stretch in Arizona (in effect funneling everyone into this deadly desert).
