Tom Butcher spoke with us about how the DSC is approaching new church starts (especially related to Latino church starts) and their particular challenges culturally. He also gave a couple of resources that have guided his vision setting, namely a book titled, "Exponential"

Billie Fidlin and Bishop Minerva Carcano

Both Billie Fidlin and Bishop Carcano (I unfortunately cannot put the ~ over the n) talked about their prophetic ministry and how really everything they do connects with the issue of immigration. They are extremely passionate and wise. They talked a lot about striving to maintain each person's dignity, as well as challenging us with stories of when that isn't happening. The Bishop is an extremely inspiring person with her witness here.

Meeting @ Desert Southwest Conference Office

After a quick walk early this morning, we rented the van (I was the primary driver of the huge white van today).

We then went to their conference office to hear from different staff members and their various ministries...

In Arizona

I made it safely to Arizona today, and got to have lunch with all three of my grandparents before meeting up with the rest of our group at the hotel. We got to meet with our Bishop for about an hour, and then we met briefly with the Desert Southwest conference staff and had a GREAT dinner. I will post a picture of the sunshine for all of you in Spokane so you can remember what it looks like!
